Our Team

Dufashanye is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization serving Burundian youth. Our mission is to empower Burundian students to reach their potential by removing societal barriers, supporting their development through educational programs and inspiring them to be resilient leaders who create positive change in their communities.

Founder & President

Edithe Rose is the Founder and President of Dufashanye. Born in Tanzania, Edithe migrated to the United States, where she had to learn English, adapt to new environments, and navigate school systems that were disadvantaged. She also learned the differences between various education sectors, including private vs. public. Edithe had the privilege of attending private school from grade 6 through her collegiate career. This experience opened her eyes to the advantages she had due to the financial support from her support system, which contrasted with the different educational experiences faced by others from East Africa.

Reflecting on her early life, particularly during high school, Edithe became deeply aware of the importance of inclusion and equity. Through her involvement in diverse communities and working alongside the Board of Trustees, she recognized the disparities in education and was driven to give back and support those who lacked similar opportunities.

Edithe graduated from Agnes Scott College with a B.A. in Anthropology and Sociology, focusing on leadership and business management. She currently works in higher education, helping students from financially limited backgrounds access opportunities for academic success. With experience in several executive roles within nonprofit organizations dedicated to student success, Edithe was recognized in the Class of 2025 30 Under 30 by the Young Nonprofit Professionals Network of Atlanta for her significant contributions to the nonprofit sector.
